1. PROPOSAL PREPARATION

All relevant information about how to submit your proposal is listed below:

1.1. Symposia

Symposia provide an opportunity to examine a single topic in depth from multiple perspectives, providing a coherent set of papers for discussion. Symposia consist of three to four presentations and a contribution by a discussant. In each symposium the presenters should come from at least two different countries. Organizers of symposia should submit:
a) abstract for the proposed symposium topic as well as for each individual presentation, and
b) extended summaries for each individual presentation.
The organizers must name the chairs and the discussant on the proposal form. The discussant should not belong to the same organization as the chair. Please note that every participant must register individually if the symposium is accepted for the ICM.
Duration: The  duration of each symposium is scheduled for 90 minutes: 15-20 minutes for each presentation (depending on the number of presentations), 10 minutes for the discussion and 20 minutes for open discussion with the audience.

Preparing the proposal

1. For the symposium as a whole the following should be submitted:

  • An abstract of 250 words that should inform about the objectives of the symposium and its scientific importance.
  • Title of the symposium and title of each individual presentation (three to four presentations per symposium), the names and the affiliation of each author, the name of the organizer/chair, and the name of the discussant.

2. For each symposium presentation

  • An abstract of 250 words that should include the aims, the method, the results and the significance of the study.
  • An extended summary (1000 words max.) that should provide detailed information about the aims, the method, the findings and the theoretical and practical significance of the study. Figures and tables should be avoided. References are not included in the word limit. The extended summary will be used for review purposes only.
Prepare your symposium using the template at the bottom of this page.

1.2 Paper presentations

Paper sessions consist of oral presentations of empirical evidence followed by a discussion with the audience. The time allocated for each paper, including the presentation and the discussion with the audience, is approximately 15-20 minutes. It is important that empirical papers have data and results. Research that is at an earlier stage is not encouraged.
Duration: The duration of a paper session is scheduled for 90 minutes.

Preparing the proposal

  • An abstract of 250 words that should include the aims, the method, the results and the significance of the study.
  • An extended summary (1000 words max.) that should provide detailed information about the aims, the method, the findings and the theoretical and practical significance of the study. Figures and tables should be avoided. References are not included in the word limit. The extended summary will be used for review purposes only.

1.3 Interactive Poster Sessions

Interactive poster sessions are designed to provide an opportunity to researchers to present their work in a visual way and interact with other colleagues. The sessions will involve 10 to 12 posters. A short oral presentation of 3 minutes for each poster is given to the audience gathered as a group. After the authors’ brief presentations, the interaction between the audience and each presenter follows on a personal basis.
Duration: Poster sessions are scheduled for 2 hours.
Form: Guidelines for the size of the posters will be provided at a later time. The authors are responsible for posting and removing their posters from the specified area. Posting material will be available from the Conference Technical Secretariat.
