The “Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience” was established by Ministerial Decision 108553/B1/30.9.2005 and published in Government Gazette 1495/1.11.2005, issue B’, in the Department of Cognition, Brain and Behaviour, Department of Psychology, Faculty of Philosophy, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
The Laboratory of Cognitive Neuroscience serves educational and research needs in cognitive, brain and behavioral areas of the Department of Cognition, Brain and Behavior. In particular, it covers the fields of neuropsychology and its clinical and research applications, neuropsychology of language, and biopsychology/behavioural neuroscience. The main research directions corresponding to these disciplines include the aetiopathogenesis of mental and nervous disorders, the investigation of the effects of environmental conditions on brain anatomy and biochemistry and behaviour, emotion perception, memory and language, and the general understanding of the neurobiological background of brain structure and function.
