The REMix research project was launched in November 2018 with the aim of strengthening the role of the university in Europe in developing responsible and constructive education on migration. It is a project funded by the European Commission’s Erasmus+ KA203 agency.
REMix has the broader aim of facilitating access to higher education for migrants and refugees. The specific objectives of the project include: (a) to develop and strengthen intercultural skills and sensitivity to diversity in students and future researchers (b) to exchange ideas on good practices in the reception of migrants and refugees in higher education (c) to create a common course between European universities, which will promote the active engagement of the institution on the issue of migration and the enhancement of knowledge in this regard.
In this context, an inventory was made of good practices in various European universities that facilitate access to higher education for migrants. In addition, a Handbook on Migration Studies and a corresponding MOOC, which will be offered by the University of Akureyri (Iceland) to students from European universities, are planned.
In the framework of the project, 6 European universities are collaborating, including the Department of Psychology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, with Evrinomi Avdi, Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, as scientific coordinator.
