Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee

The School of Psychology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki decided in an Assembly meeting (no. 424/21-9-2023) to establish an Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee with the main objective of ensuring the values of justice, equality, equal opportunities and acceptance of diversity at all levels of operation and in the procedures of the Department.

These values are consistent with the principles of social justice, human rights and equity and contribute to fostering an inclusive and safe environment that promotes the adaptation, growth, learning, creativity and well-being of all members of the Department.

In accordance with the above framework, no form of discrimination, discriminatory treatment, intimidation or aggressive and violent behaviour is tolerated on the basis of characteristics such as gender, socio-economic status, racial or ethnic origin, religion, beliefs, health/disability status, age, gender identity, sexual orientation and others.

The committee includes faculty members, administrative staff members, and students of the School.

The work of the Committee complies both with the relevant legislation for the promotion of substantive gender equality and the fight against gender violence (Law 4604/2019) and with the Code of Ethics and Good Practice adopted by the Senate of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and published in the Government Gazette on 10 December 2021 (sheet no. 5747).

The members of the Committee pledge that they will make every effort to ensure a diverse environment characterized by a wide range of perceptions and attitudes to promote free expression, learning and innovation, and in which all members of the School of Psychology (students and employees) feel safe, welcome and in solidarity.

With all of the above in mind, the Committee will work in the coming period to design and implement proactive actions that promote the values of fairness, equity and inclusion, and to develop a protocol for managing reports of behaviours that circumvent these values.
