Η Ευαγγελία Φίγγου είναι απόφοιτη του τμήματος Φιλοσοφίας, Παιδαγωγικής και Ψυχολογίας του Α.Π.Θ.. Κατέχει μεταπτυχιακό δίπλωμα στην Κοινωνική Ψυχολογία από το τμήμα Ψυχολογίας του Α.Π.Θ., καθώς και μεταπτυχιακό τίτλο σπουδών (MSc) στην Κριτική Κοινωνική Ψυχολογία από το Πανεπιστήμιο του Lancaster (Μεγάλη Βρετανία).  Στο Πανεπιστήμιο του Lancaster έλαβε επίσης το διδακτορικό της δίπλωμα στην Ψυχολογία. Στα ερευνητικά της ενδιαφέροντα περιλαμβάνονται οι διομαδικές σχέσεις και ταυτότητες, ο ρατσισμός και η προκατάληψη, οι κοινωνικές αναπαραστάσεις της μετανάστευσης, καθώς και ζητήματα ένταξης και πολιτειότητας. Εστιάζει ιδιαίτερα στην κριτική κοινωνιοψυχολογική προσέγγιση των  παραπάνω φαινομένων και εξειδικεύεται στην ποιοτική μεθοδολογία έρευνας και ιδιαίτερα σε λογοαναλυτικές μεθόδους. Έχει συμμετάσχει σε ερευνητικά έργα χρηματοδοτούμενα από εθνικές και ευρωπαϊκές πηγές που αφορούν τη διερεύνηση των παραπάνω θεμάτων. Είναι μέλος του Συντακτικού Συμβουλίου και ad hoc κριτής σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά. Οι πρόσφατες δημοσιεύσεις της περιλαμβάνονται σε περιοδικά όπως το European Journal of Social Psychology, το  Political Psychology, το Journal of Community and Applied Social Psychology, το Discourse and Society και σε συλλογικούς τόμους.

Τα ερευνητικά μου ενδιαφέροντα εντάσσονται στο πεδίο της κοινωνικής ψυχολογίας των Διομαδικών σχέσεων. Μεγάλο μέρος της ερευνητικής μου δουλειάς αφορά τη μελέτη της ρητορικής της προκατάληψης και του ρατσισμού σε διαφορετικά κοινωνικο-πολιτικά πλαίσια, καθώς και κοινωνικές αναπαραστάσεις της μετανάστευσης και της κοινωνικής ένταξης μεταναστών και προσφύγων. Το πιο πρόσφατο δημοσιευμένο έργο μου αφορά ακόμη θεσμικές και καθημερινές κατασκευές της πολιτειότητας και της πολιτικής συμμετοχής, καθώς και κοινωνιοψυχολογικές διαστάσεις της ανεργίας και της εργασιακής επισφάλειας. Mελετώ τα θέματα που με ενδιαφέρουν με ποιοτικές μεθόδους έρευνας, και κυρίως εφαρμόζοντας αρχές και μεθοδολογικά εργαλεία της ρητορικής και της λογοψυχολογίας.
