Lazaros C. Triarhou obtained his M.D. degree from School of Medicine, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, and earned his M.Sc. in Neuroscience from the Center for Brain Research, University of Rochester, New York, Ph.D. in Neurobiology from Indiana–Purdue University, Indianapolis, and postdoctoral fellow diploma in Neuropathology from Indiana University School of Medicine. He worked as a visiting scientist at the Histological Institute of Lund University, Sweden, Preclinical CNS Department in Basel, Switzerland, and the Department of Neurochemistry, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas, Barcelona. He previously served on the faculties of Indiana University School of Medicine and University of Macedonia School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. For his research in neural plasticity and regeneration he received the Honorable Weil Award from the American Association of Neuropathologists, First Award from the United States Public Health Service, and the Science Prize of the Bodossakis Foundation. He has authored 160 articles in PubMed, and authored, translated or edited 40 books. Since 2021 he is the Εditor of «Pioneers in Neurology» for the Journal of Neurology and the Αssociate Εditor of «Cerebellar Classics» for The Cerebellum.
