Ο Κωνσταντίνος Καφέτσιος είναι απόφοιτος του τμήματος Φιλοσοφίας, Παιδαγωγικής και Ψυχολογίας του Α.Π.Θ. και διδάκτορας του Τμήματος Ψυχολογίας του πανεπιστήμιου Lancaster Αγγλίας. Έχει εργαστεί σε Πανεπιστήμια της Ελλάδας και του εξωτερικού, πιο πρόσφατα ως Τακτικός Καθηγητής στο τμήμα Κινηματογράφου του Α.Π.Θ και στο τμήμα Ψυχολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Κρήτης, και πιο πριν ως Επίκουρος Καθηγητής στο τμήμα Ψυχολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Anglia Ruskin στο Cambridge, και ως Affiliated Lecturer και Research Associate στη Σχολή Κοινωνικών και Πολιτικών Επιστημών του University of Cambridge. Επίσης ως Επισκέπτης Καθηγητής του Πανεπιστημίου Palacký Τσεχίας και του Institute of Psychology, Technische Universität Darmstadt, Γερμανίας.
Είναι συγγραφέας ή συ-συγγραφέας σε πολλές επιστημονικές μελέτες σε διεθνή επιστημονικά περιοδικά (όπως τα Social Psychological and Personality Science, American Psychologist, Emotion, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Cross-cultural Psychology, Journal of Non-verbal Behavior, Personal Relationships) και κριτής για διεθνή περιοδικά και διεθνείς ερευνητικούς οργανισμούς (όπως οι SNSF, SSHRC, NSC, FWO, ESF, European Commission). Από το 2022 είναι αναπληρωτής διευθυντής σύνταξης (Associate Editor) του Journal of Experimental Social Psychology.

Τα ερευνητικά του ενδιαφέροντα εστιάζουν στο συναίσθημα στις διαπροσωπικές και κοινωνικές επαφές σε διαφορετικά πολιτισμικά πλαίσια και σε ιεραρχικές σχέσεις στην εργασία. Aυτή την έρευνα την έχει υποστηρίξει με επιχορηγήσεις από ερευνητικά ιδρύματα στην Ελλάδα (ΓΓΕΤ-Αριστεία, ΕΛΙΔΕΚ, ΙΚΥ, Πανεπιστήμιο Κρήτης) και το εξωτερικό (FP7, H2020, EEA, DAAD, GACR).
