Konstantinos Kafetsios graduated from the Department of Philosophy, Education and Psychology, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and completed his doctoral studies at the Psychology Department, Lancaster University in the UK. He has held academic appointments in Greece and abroad, more recently as a Full Professor at Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, School of Film and the Psychology Department, University of Crete. Previously as a Senior Lecturer at Anglia Ruskin University in Cambridge and as an Affiliated Lecturer and Research Associate at the University of Cambridge. Also as a visiting Professor at Palacký University, Czech Republic and the Institute of Psychology, Technische Universität Darmstadt in Germany.

He is first author or co-author in several publications in international peer-refereed journals (such as Social Psychological and Personality Science, American Psychologist, Emotion, Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin, Journal of Cross-cultural Psychology, Journal of Non-verbal Behavior, Personal Relationships) and reviewer for numerous international peer-reviewed journals and research agencies (such as SNSF, SSHRC, NSC, FWO, ESF, European Commission).

He currently serves as an Associate Editor for the Journal of Experimental Social Psychology and has also served as an Associate Editor for the European Journal of Social Psychology, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships and Frontiers in Psychology; also as consulting editor for the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology-IRGP, Journal of Social and Personal Relationships, Personal Relationships and the Hellenic Journal of Psychology.

He is a full member of the International Society of Research on Emotion (isre.org), the European Association of Social Psychology (easp.org) and International member of APA.

Research interests revolve around examining emotion in interpersonal and social interaction, in hierarchical relationships at work, and in social relationships across cultures. For this research he has received funding from National (General Secretariat for Research, Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation, IKY, University of Crete) and international (FP7, H2020, EEA, DAAD, GACR) sources.
